Remembering Sheila Jordan
Art Lande (piano) Brad Goode (trumpet) Tina Phillips (vocals) Jim White (drums) Bill McCrossen (bass)
Colorado Jazz musicians, close friends of NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan, come together to share music they performed with her and to share stories of inspiration on the one year anniversary of her passing. Sheila lived true jazz history being best friends with Charlie Parker, marrying his piano player Duke Jordan and performing and hanging with many jazz greats during the New York BeBop era. She dedicated her life to jazz and continued to perform until she passed at 96.

Art Lande, Günter Wehinger, Tim Wendel
September 19-28, 2026

Workshops and Performances in Colorado and California
The trio featuring Art Lande (piano), Tim Wendel (guitar), and Günter Wehinger (flute), is an exploration of improvisation, composition, and subtle interaction. This new group touches on Jazz, modern classical and world music traditions without residing in any identity for too long. Both Art and Tim live in Colorado's Boulder/Denver area and have played in many groups together, including two unique trios: Future History with Art’s son Aaron on violin; and a group loosely named ACT with saxophonist Carl Schultz. Tim and Art share bass and chording responsibilities in these groups with seamless and textually varied flexibility.
Günter and Art have been playing together since the mid 1980s including the trio Hidden Jewel with Paul McCandless (oboe, soprano sax) and an unnamed group with Bruce Williamson (reeds). Günter is a native Austrian living in Basel, Switzerland. He has recorded many albums spanning a variety of musical styles and genres, performed in clubs and concert halls, held teaching positions and taught master classes and workshops in Europe, Japan and the US. He is coming to the US specifically for this project.
All three musicians in this group are excellent composers and their pieces have strong identities developed with creative ears, lyrical solos, intriguing rhythms, and sure technical abilities. Beauty, mystery, and surprises are in store for the trio and the audience.
